Mission report: Cooking 1, Okonomiyaki

The day before yesterday, Sunday, I did this mission. I thought it was good to do it on the weekend and I actually invited a collegue to participate in the eating part.

I started about 5 o'clock in the afternoon and the dinner was ready at 6.30.

When it came to ingrediants I did use a little bit different ones than m.

First picture shows them.

Cabbage, Spring Onion, Flour, Dashi powder, Taro, Chives, Ginger, Shoulder Bacon, Tomato Sauce, Curry, Mayo.

First I chopped the cabbage (manual effort, no machine in the apartment)

Then I did the same with the Spring onions.

After that it was time to grate the Taro and finly chopp the ginger.

Then I hit the first real problem. When I was going to do the batter I realized. I to not have any measurements in the Kitchen! No dl measurement, nothing! I had to it "on a hip" as the swedish expression goes. Dashi powder, Water, Flour, Ginger and Taro whent into the batter.

First the batter turned out to lumpy and stiff:

I needed to add extra water and then it turned out ok:

Then it was time to prepare the Bacon and to put everything together.

After that I prepared the additinals to the Okonomiyaki. I cut Chives, took out the Mayo. I couldn't get hold of real Oko Sauce so I had to go with m's tip. Curry and Tomato Sauce.

Then it was just to start frying.

I had some problems with the first one. The batter had drenched through while I was preparing the sauce. The result was that the first I did didn't keep together when I turned it but the second and the third was good.

And finaly, the result:

Both my guest and my self agreed that the Okonomiyaki tasted great! It was a very good mission. Fun, a little bit challenging but not to much and VERY tasty!
